How do we grow?

In focal point of this piece, you can find nature blending with humankind, in an attempt to construct a massive cherry blossom. These gentle reminders of the life cycle, are ubiquitous throughout the D.C. region. Along the first level, additional scenes illustrate that development doesn’t just happen, but is born from a history. This supporting imagery reflects the path Matan has taken to get to this point, in Bethesda. The various abstraction points to the ways that change can make our surrounding environment feel, as well as our interior selves.

Michael Owen is a contemporary painter and muralist, based in Baltimore. His public work attempts to activate strangers’ spirits and engage their heart in deeper conversation.
