“Hard Work”, 2014”

This memorable commission by Dundalk Renaissance Corp. gave me access to Baltimore’s shipyard, insights into nearly forgotten legacies and the opportunity to embody/express a value that’s important to me. I pushed my design sensibilities and physical boundaries. Chose 2 ladders and 0 assistants. Snuck in some of Diego Rivera’s figures. Got covered in a mist of red spray paint. Sean Scheidt lived 2 blocks away and walked over to grab some photos. The community showed up to celebrate with a bottle of champagne. When I said I don’t drink and they said it was to break over the art. This was the right project, for the right artist, at the right time. The mural still lives at 1 N Dundalk Ave.
